sendfax causing RSPREC error

Hi,

I'm using sendfax 1.1.18-14 on an old USR Sportster 28K8 Fax Modem on
Linux 2.2.5 (SuSE 6.0). Whenever sending a fax (class 2.0) I get the
following error message at the end of the transmission:

sendfax: FAILED to transmit 'foobar.g3'.
Transmission error: +FHNG:51 (RSPREC error)

The fax on the other side ends with an error, the complete fax, however,
has been successfully sent.
My logfile says something like:
07/21 17:52:49 yS0  connection hangup: '+FHS:51'
07/21 17:52:49 yS0   (RSPREC error)
07/21 17:52:49 yS0  got response: 'OK'

Yes, I have resetted the modem, I have set class 2.0 manually ... but
what further options do I have ?
