Works fine through a rocketport board.  I've got 16 serial ports on my 
desktop machine:

# ttyR0 = Pilot
# ttyR1 = ZyXEL 2864       <- faxing
# ttyR2 = Camera
# ttyR3 = upstairs display
# ttyR4 = Weather Monitor
# ttyR5 = ZyXEL 1496       <- faxing
# ttyR6 = servo controller
# ttyR7 = Bottle Rocket
# ttyR8 = touchpad
