OFF TOPIC: NYNEX voice mail

Hi,

I want to see if I can get a voice modem to log into a NYNEX
voice mailbox and check for new messages. This would have to be
done using silence detection or comparing samples to differentiate 
between two different messages ('you have N new messages','there 
are no new messages') The object is to check the mailbox 
periodically and send myself an e-mail when voice messages arrive. 
Has anyone played with anything similar; or can you offer pointers 
to anything similar to this?
