USR Spotster 56k X2

Hello everybody,

This only partially an mgetty or more precisely sendfax question,
but I thought there must be be people on this list that have 
encountered my problem already.

I am using mgetty+sendfax 1.0.0 with a USR Sportster 56k X2
modem. After some minor adaptions, almost everything I want to
do seems to work, except autgoing FAX'es to systems that can
listen to the FAX beeps before they answer. E.g. one fancy phone
system that answers with a voice message will start talking only
if there are no FAX beeps, but otherwise it immediately switches 
to the FAX machine.

The modems that I have used in the past will start the FAX beeps
immediately after dialing, the USR Sportster that I am using now
doesn't seem to issue the beeps until the call is answered.

Question, does anybody know if there is a way to configure the
above modem to start the beeps immediately after dialing?
