CONNECT\c\r No Longer Works

Hi All,

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already.
I grabbed mgetty-1.1.8-3.i386.rpm and installed it on
my RedHat Linux 4.2. I then copied over my mgetty.config
file from another machine running mgetty-1.1.2 (I think).
Trouble is now that logins are no longer possible because
mgetty chokes with the CONNECT\c\r sequence in the 
answer-chat script. The CONNECT\c\r works fine with mgetty-1.1.2
and even with mgetty-1.1.5. Is shows the CONNECT response as
well as the connect speed.

To get around the problem, I eliminated the \c\r string so that
I now have just CONNECT in the chat sequence. It works and
modem logins can proceed but I want to get the connect speed as
well. What gives?
