init chat failed, exiting...: Interrupted system call

Hi,

I just set up a Linux box with a Cyclades multiport card and 4 USR 28.8
modems for PPP dial up.

I've set these things up before and I know that these modems work fine,
but I keep getting the following message in the log files mgetty.ttyC0,
ttyC1, and ttyC2:

init chat failed, exiting...: Interrupted system call

the fourth modem seems to be initalizing right.

I'm using the 1.1.9 dist. of mgetty.

Any ideas?
