Fax receive times out

Hi,

I'm new to mgetty and when I try to send a fax to it from a fax
machine I get the following:

"The fax receive was *not* fully successful ... The Modem returned
+FHNG: -6 (TIMEOUT waiting for modem response (int.))"

I've searched the mailing list archive and read the FAQ but nobody
seems to have had exactly the same problem. The modem I'm using is a
generic model PT-3006, I don't even know the brand let alone the
chipset. It claims to be a "33.6k fax modem", and I don't have the
manual.

The problem is at the mgetty end I'm sure because the fax machine I'm
using to send has never had any other problems.

I've tried adding the line "switchbd 19200" to mgetty.config as
recommended in the docs, but it doesn't make any difference. I'm
using v.1.1.14 under Debian Linux 2.0. I can send a log file if
needed, but I just thought I'd check if there's an obvious solution
first.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!
