Processing of received faxes

I tried out the inwards fax facility of mgetty recently and was delighted it 
worked first time. However...

The fax appeared as a mail to root. No problem with that. Looking at the mail 
it was very MIMEey. Couldn't see how to decode it or even to save it as PINE 
didn't think it was an attachment.
Tried forwarded it to an account I access via Eudora for Windows. Saw it, but 
again not as an attachment.

What is the easiest way to get it into something which can be read onscreen or 
printed? As I implied, the main client environment I use is Windows (sorry!), 
but if there is an X tool then fine.
