-x2 is much too low to give meaningful results.  Set -x5, and then send
the log file again (showing ONE incoming call).

You do not want to set it to "low", you have to make sure that it is 
set to "high", otherwise, login won't work.  Usually modems do that on
their own, so check your serial port and serial cables (swap with a
known-good one).
