Errors with sendfax in 'normal' mode only?

No idea.  The Courier models can be upgraded from DOS just fine
(actually, only from DOS), but I have no experience with any "Sportster"
series modems, and neither with any internals beside my good old ZyXEL
1496B, which I sold about 5 years ago.
