Please *keep* that modem around for a while.  I have forwarded your log to
US Robotics (3com), and it's very well possible that you might receive an
updated firmware from them, fixing the bug you have sent me.

... but it would be a shame to actually get them to fix it, and then to
have to tell them "oh, I can't test that, sold the modem".
