Direct Modem to Modem Dialup

Hi,

Recently I plan to use one Linux computer work as a router, connecting to
outside with LAN while having a modem as Dialin Server. But I don't want
to use a telephone line(via pxd), I want connect modem directly to modem.
So things are different: it should not wait for rings and carrier , also
it's different from direct serial line connection, for it needs modem
talking to set up communication at first. 

Actually I had tried to modify the source codes a little and
configurations and succeded. But I don't think I am doing the right way.
So could you please give me some suggestion?
