version of mgetty that works with slackware 3.6 ?

I have slackware 3.6 kernal 2.0.35 and I have it doing dial out etc.
doing ip_masq

but I was wanting to make it into a dial in computer to my network,
so I got a version of mgetty    as  the slackware distro doesnt seem to
have it (only getty and agetty) I tried compiling it  and i got a load
of errors.
So I assume my linux distro was too old for it.
Can anyone recomend me a distro that will work with slackware 3.6 kernal
2.0.35 ?

also does anyone know if it is possible to do dial in and out  on same
computer  and if there are any good websites on making mgetty work ?
