Well, I suppose this is not an specific mgetty-issue. You should
probably look it up your modems manual which is also available at
ftp.elsa.de in pdf-format - look for 56kdm.zip for the germam version.
The file also contains an extra description of all AT-commands and
registers. You are looking for register S54, ATM0 and ATL0.

Also have a look for storing of specific configuration profiles, AT&W
and AT*W, together with ATZ as initialisation string.
