Because the loglevel is set too low in your voice.conf file. Should
be 6 for debugging.

With a higher debug level yes, but I guess Luca already did that, but
didn't post it, just wrote the result: The modem detects a dail tone.
I think Gert once had a modem, that could even make a 300 baud
connect with the dial tone... :-)
