Hi Gert (et al)...Just my quick comments on the topic of documents and
the use of info. Doing things on the Linux box at home, using .info
files is not a problem (although I don't really like info), but at work
on the Sun Microsystems Solaris systems, I don't have a gnu development
environment or most GNU tools...I use the official Sun development
products. So, I don't have info, and have to browse the .info files
"manually".
I know in a later msg you mentioned firing up some info2xxx tools to
get other formats for the doc. That would be nice for me. Of course,
with today's HTML-centric world, info2html would probably be the most
popular choice ("the choice of a gnu generation" to steal a line from
Pepsi Inc. advertising 8^). However, just having something I could
read (.txt, .ps, even .tex) would be fine.
However, I got by browsing the raw info input files, and now have
things working (except for what I'm guessing is a defective Zoom
VFX-28.8 modem), so I'm happy either way!
Regards...
