Hi,

I'm forwarding that for somebody from UK (Ian Steel <ian@bilstone.co.uk>)
who was asking in a newsgroup and doesn't know this group but asked me for
help.

The scenario: he's set up Linux 1.2.5 with mgetty-0.98 and said motorola
modem and isn't able to receive faxes. I inadvertently deleted most of
the logfile (the part that sounded reasonable to me) and kept only the
relevant parts, following below

> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 got: [0d]
> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 CND: OK[0a]RING ** found **
> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 send: ATA[0d]
> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 waiting for ``CONNECT''
Ok, fine so far...

> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 got: [0d]
> 11/20 20:43:35 S1 CND: RING[0a][0d][0a]FAX
> 11/20 20:43:36 S1 found action string: ``FAX''
> 11/20 20:43:36 S1 action is A_FAX, start fax receiver...
> 11/20 20:43:36 S1 fax receiver: entry
> 11/20 20:43:36 S1 fax_wait_for(OK)
> 11/20 20:43:36 S1 got:[0d][0a][0d][0a]CONNECT[0d]
> 11/20 20:43:43 S1 fax_wait_for: string 'CONNECT'
Ok so far..
> 11/20 20:43:43 S1 got:[0a][0d][0a]ERROR[0d]
> 11/20 20:43:48 S1 fax_wait_for: string 'ERROR'
But what's that? Looks like there are problems with the modem??
And, BTW, why ERROR? If there's another problem, I'd expect NO CARRIER,
but ERROR is strange..

> 11/20 20:43:48 S1 ABORTING: buffer='ERROR'

Calling Motorola naturally didn't help and he's waiting for tests with
Delrina...

But still, that ERROR really stuns me...
