If you have rather fixed times of being at home, you can add some
entries to your crontab file to create appropriate /etc/answer files
for vgetty. You can of course create these files with a command by
hand too. Or you can do it the way, that I use... just let vgetty
answer after about 40 seconds. If I'm at home, I will be at the phone
within that time, so I never have to turn the answering machine on or
off. The probably most simple solution. Yes, I have of course a
seperate number for fax, so no problems with that. :-)
