USR Sportster Message Plus - firmware update

Hi,

I know this not mgetty-specific, but maybe somebody can help me.
I updated the firmware of my USR Sportster Message Plus (because
I have problems with silence detection and I hoped a new firmware
could be the solution). I updated the firmware to:

FLASH date             6/2/98
FLASH rev              12.1.41

DSP date               6/2/98
DSP rev                12.1.41

With this new firmware the modem behaves different than before:
After mgetty starts the ARQ-LED keeps blinking (according to the
manual this means, the modem is in fax-mode) and if I turn the
modem off an on the modem is not in the (by USR called) self-mode.
Has anybody noticed this behaviour with this firmware and is there
anything I can do. 
m/vgetty seems to work as far as I can see (didn't get any fax
yet)
