A distinctive ring question

I am planning on getting distinctive ring in a few weeks so my roomie can
have his own number.  The voice.conf file for vgetty has a section that
deals with distinctive ring, but isn't clear on what sort of options may
be set on that basis.

Unlike the example (ring1 = voice, ring2 = data:fax), I am planning to use
both numbers for voice calls, and would like to have vgetty play a
different outgoing message for each line.

Since I don't have the ability to test it myself, does anyone else know if
it's allowable to put options from the "program vgetty" block in the
distinctive ring section?  An example might be:

ringtype ring1
rings 4
answer_mode voice:fax:data
backup_message outgoing1.rmd

ringtype ring2
rings 2
answer_mode voice:fax:data
backup_message outgoing2.rmd

I would like to have some idea whether or not this type of ring-based
message selection is practical before I get the second phone number....

Has anyone tried this arrangement before?  Does it work?
