mgetty on null modem

I can't seem to get mgetty started correctly. Please reply directly to
me, since I'm not a subscriber to this list.

This is in my inittab:

7:2345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -x 9 -b -r -s 38400 -p "login: " ttyS1

And this is what ends up in my log-file (I can't make any sense out of
it):
