question about connects

Hi!
I'm busy trying to code a bbs program for Linux, and i want
to use mgetty to answer the phonelines. I have a little question
about something i can't seem to figure out: How can my bbs-program
get information about the current connect speed and caller-id?
cfgetospeed() only seems to return the locked baudrate of the line,
but i want the actual CONNECT string returned by the modem. Can my
program get these values from mgetty by commandline parameter, does
mgetty store information about current connects in some place/file,
or is there some other way i can obtain this data?
Ciao,
Floris Kunert
