Yes, that is allowed. Vgetty will parse the config file several
times. First it reads the generic section, then the port section and
when the ring comes in, the apropriate ring section. So if you put
some option into that section, you simply override the previous
setting, which is exactly what you want in this case.

No problem, should work. Maybe the rings setting will not be used,
but the answer_mode and backup_message surely will be used.

I'm sorry, but I don't have distinctive ring, so I can only answer
that theoretically and that answer is yes. It is supposed to work
just the way you want it.
