stupid modem init question

Try "toggle-dtr no".  This is somewhat "shooting in the dark", but
someone told me that the SCO serial drivers mess up the port if DTR
is dropped.

If that doesn't work, let's go on searching...

Can you access the modem with "cu -l tty1A" (set up the port in
/usr/lib/uucp/Devices as "Direct..." first)?  If that doesn't work
either, you might want to try a different serial port / cable / modem
/ computer, to locate the problem.
