Hi Gert,

thanks for your help. It didn't occur to me that it could be problem with
the calling modem. In fact I had disabled V42bis on it and the receving
modem didn't like that. Now the two chat happily.

Actually I said so because I checked both the list archive and
the newsgroup on dejanews, but my message wasn't there. I thought every
message to the list would go there automatically. Clearly, I was wrong.
