At Wit's End on system freezes

I too had problems with the RocketPort boards.

Needing 24x7 reliability, I changed to the Cyclades multiport
boards.  They work well.  An 8-port ISA board currently costs ca
$359.

I have an 80486 DX4/100 running 24 modems using the Cyclades 16
port + 16 port add-on.

It has been down three times since 1994.  UPS batteries died
twice, and I don't know why it crashed the third time.
