Joe:

Two things to look at on the hardware side. One, check the multiport card
interrupt
and make sure its not in conflict with another one. Two, since you didn't do the 
original setup go check the Linux Hardware Compatibility HOWTO at:

http://users.bart.nl/~patrickr/hardware-howto/Hardware-HOWTO.html, SunSite and
all the usual
mirror sites.

Some brands of PC (Compaq for one) and some non-Intel processors may not be
totally compatible
with RH4.2.  

You might also send an e-mail to Comtrol, they may have seen something similar
before.
