I'm not familiar enough with their branding to know if the modem
I have is the same one or not. Mine says "Supra EXPRESS 56K" on top
and "XP56e Voice" on the bottom. It uses a Rockwell chip.
My experiences:
Dial out to ISP: No problem. I haven't measured throughput, but it is
"fast enough".
Voice: (using vgetty to record messages) Works. Sound quality is a
bit fuzzy, but better than my tape based answering machine. I haven't
tried tweaking input levels to see if that would help.
Fax output: Haven't tried.
Fax input: Tried faxing from another machine (Win96, Practical
Peripherals V.34 modem) and the fax receive started and failed.
(One day when I have time, I'll post a log to the list :) I'm not
sure if it is the sender of receiver that is to blame.
Dial in data connections: I've tried several times using my V.90
Viking laptop modem and failed. I've not pursued this to see if if
allowing extra time to negotiate would help. Vgetty uses about 10
seconds sorting out whether it is a voice or fax call first.

Well... OK. The log still has the remains of a recent attempt, so
I'll include it here. (I've obliterated my 'id=' phone number for
reasons of privacy)
I'm sure knowledgable people can tell you more about the modem than
I know just by reading the log.
