DTMF help

Hi!

SOme questions to DTMF: I tried to get this thing up and working:
dtmf_program /usr/lib/mgetty+sendfax/dtmf.sh

but if i type a *123456# into the telephon i get nothing! Is the
problem with austrian telekom? Do i have to adjust something for
my countries nice telekom?

i got the following behaviour: calling, playing greeting, meanwhile
*1234#, then beeeeeep beeep silence, silence, i closed the connection
and suddenly i was called back (!), issuing beeeeppp, finishing:

Any help with this? Is it possible in austria to use the telephon to send
