I just purchased a Comtrol RocketPort Octa/DB25 this afternoon for
this project. I also got a quote for 6 USR Courrier 33.6 external
modems at $199 US each. This should do the job reliability wise. I
realize that it is tight. In actuality, all these figures are design
estimates, not known requirements. I will have 6 fax modems gouing
out, one 2400 baud data modem going out (to clear credit cards), and
one fax/voice modem coming in (to handle unfillable orders and such).
The voice modem is expected to use DTMF for user data, and voice
prompts to walk him thru it. That accounts for all 8 serial ports.
