mgetty stops answering phone

I had something like that happen in the 5.1/5.2 distribution of Redhat (
sorry, I do not remember the Mgetty version. ) I am using the version
distributed with Redhat 6.0 now, and no longer have the problem.
As a workaround ( because I was too lazy to find the proper way to fix it ),
I created a cron job that would check to see if it was hung ( I could tell
by looking at the differernt ps -? Outputs ), and killed mgetty if the
situation occurred.
By the way, I downloaded the latest mgetty RPM from Redhat 6.1 ftp site, and
came up with a version newer than 1.0. You may want to check your version
and upgrade if necessary. I think the version that came with RH 6.1 was
Mgetty 1.1.14.

Subject: mgetty stops answering phone
Strange problem:
I've used mgetty for years, but the machine's hard drive went up.
So I
put on Redhat 6.1 and added mgetty. It works, but only for a while.
After a while (day, two days), the modem will no longer answer the
phone. Mgetty is running and I can find no errors.
If I kill mgetty, it gets respawned and starts answering the phone
again.
This is mgetty 1.0.0
Has anyone seen/heard anything like this? Help appreciated.
