Slow modem speed

He did mention earlier that both machines were on the same pbx system.
I believe that some (most?) pbx systems conserve hardware and thereby
reduce cost by reducing bandwidth over what the public telco would
provide.  At 9600 baud -- a typical value for such a pbx to sustain -- 
we would expect to see times of 1.5 to 2 hrs for his ftp.  Perhaps
this is the case?
