Hi, I would like to know if somebody can help me with this.

My problem is that mgetty respawns over and over.

 My inittab line is

so:2345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -x 9 /dev/ttyS0

I suspect that it is my rockwell modem the one causing the
problem
because when i use the -r option in the inittab line, the
problem
is gone.

Could it be the init-chat string I am using??

I found an init string in the inf file of the software of my
modem:

AT&FE0V1&C1&D2S95=45S0=0

I have also used the that is recommend in the manual
for rockwell modems with no success

ATQ0V1E0 OK AT&K3S0=0 OK

Thanks in advance

Antonio Martinez
