Flashing light on USR 56K ?

First off, I'd like thank Gert. So, thank you Gert for mgetty.
It truely is a great and useful series of programs. With a mostly
functioning kfax on the front end for GUI users, this is almost
getting too easy. :)

I recently upgraded my servers from RedHat 5.1 and 5.2 to RedHat 6.1
Unfortunately, all of my fax settings in mgetty got lost in the
shuffle. Ugh ! So I had to re-do everything from scratch. But I was
quite surprised to see that, re-setting up things with the newer version
of mgetty was quite easy. Unfortunately RedHat neglected to include the
mgetty-faq so hunting down more docs was a minor annoyance.

My US Robotics 56K FAX EXT V5.14 Faxmodem Revision Date 10/02/98 has no
problems with the -C auto switch in /etc/inittab and can detect incoming
fax or data (PAP) calls without error thus far. Outgoing faxes (thanks to
Marc Schaefer and Klaus Lichtenwalder for the terrific mgetty-faq)
functions reliably and well without errors thus far.

However, there is one very minor thing I am curious about.

When my USR 56K external fax/modem is idling in "waiting" mode,
the ARQ/FAX light flashes off and then on about one cycle per second.
I'm curious as to what flag setting is causing it and if I can set that
flag off yet leave all the other current settings alone (since everything
seems to be working well) and simply not cycle the light itself on and
off.

If this shouldn't or can not be done, I can live with it the way it is if
switching the flashing off is a problem, but at times its a bit of a
distraction. I don't seem to recall that light in this cycling on/off mode
before. It may well have been there, but I don't recall seeing it.

Any ideas for a simple and easy flag for me to set ?

Again, thanks again for a great series of programs.

Regards,

Harley Silver
