did you Recompile pppd for shadow passwords? The RedHat pppd out of
the box is not compiled in this manner. Get the source and read the
docs for recompiling with shadow passwords turned on. Jonathan is
correct, you need the "login" on the command line.

We are using Redhat Linux 4.2 with shadow passwords enabled, when trying
the above but witht the login option the passwords never get authcatied.
Has anybody ever got this and have the resolved it?
