mgetty-1.1.10: vgetty compilation problems

Howdy,
I have problems to compile vgetty with mgetty-1.1.10. mgetty itself
compiles like Mike Tyson bites ears, really straight.
But vgetty complains:
gcc -O2 -Wall -pipe -c make_path.c
make[3]: *** No rule to make target strsep.o', needed by libutil.a'. Stop.
make[3]: Leaving directory /usr2/lib/mgetty-1.1.10/voice/libutil'
make[2]: *** [vgetty-all] Error 1
...
I have linux kernel 2.0.32, gcc version 2.7.2.1
