Steven Hall typed and pasted,
I would like to ask a question, please don't think this is to wrong
spirited!
In calling someone Rev., I suppose this is just tradition, but isn't
this a title belonging to the name of the Lord.
Psa 111:9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his
covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
"reverend is his name."
I only wish to know if this is giving titles to men, not due?
Job 32:21 Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let
me give flattering titles unto man.
Job 32:22 For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my
maker would soon take me away.
I realize that a wife should reverance her husband, Eph 5:33
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as
himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
So maybe a wife could call her husband Rev. Wonderful, but who else "by
the scripture?"
Give honor where honor where is due, but isn't Rev. So in So, to much?
Where did this tradition come from?
Your servant for Jesus sake,
Steven (wanting to be part of the Church the Lord will return for: Eph
5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having
spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and
without blemish.)Hall
