Howdy H-F listmembers.

Tyler and I, as listowners, received this notification in our
mail today regarding Prairienet:

    -------------------------------------------------------

In the 'it never rains but it pours' category, one of
our two login computers, firefly, has gone down due to
a major hardware failure. This computer has always
been 'old reliable', so this is completely unexpected.

The upshot is that all logins are now being routed to
bluestem which means that this single computer will be
carrying all the load. Systems loads will likely be
    high and response time slow.

List traffic runs on bluestem, so I ask all listowners
-- especially those of you with large, high-traffic
lists -- to please ask your subscribers to keep list
traffic as light as humanly possible and to try to post
outside peak usage hours (9am-11pm, but especially
2pm-9pm) until this problem is resolved.

The worst case scenario will be that we may have to
take the listproc offline during peak time with little
or no notice if systems loads become unmanageable.
Under this scenario, the listproc would run from about
    midnight to 8am every day.

Thanks for your patience and your support. I'll keep
    you posted.

I don't think we qualify as "large" or "high-traffic," but
if you do see some apparent down-time of list traffic, this
is one reason why.
