Sister Bernice Ares quoted:

>A Christian television network canceled Pat Boone's weekly gospel
>music show after thousands of viewers called in outrage over his
>foray (Webster:To ravage in search of spoils.) into heavy metal,
>singer said yesterday.

And commented:

>How about this piece of news? Even the trinitarians are sick of
>rock 'n' roll & heavy metal on the air. How much more should we
>also keep this music out of the Apostolic Churches.

Pat Boone's new recording was intended to be in good fun. Obviously the joke
backfired. The songs on the album were originally done by heavy metal bands,
but he performed them in his own usual style, complete with orchestral backing.

Seems to me any evil in rock music is in the lyrics and common trappings of
the rock culture. The style itself has been put to positive use by many
Christian artists. My wife, in fact, took her first step toward serving
Christ at a Christian concert (Petra). From within the Apostolic movement,
David and the Giants have been a powerful witness for truth, and many have
received the Holy Ghost through their ministry.
