Blessing v. Vanity

As I was driving to school the other day, I began to think about
something I have heard before on here and from my pastor.
My pastor once pointed out to the congregation about the past and
everyone's financial standings. He said he remembered when the
parking lot was filled up with old, late model cars. Now look, he said,
many of you are driving nice cars, wearing nicer clothes, etc. God has
blessed us in so many different ways.

After having the discussion about make-up and talking about vanity
on H-F, I started thinking about vanity. As someone mentioned on here,
in the past, when a preacher drove up to a camp with a expensive car,
they were the one preached about that night or week. Vanity.

To come to my question now....

example: I walk into my church one day with a brand new, lets say,
Tommy Hilfiger suit. I top that off with a top of the line silk tie, and
a
very fine pair of Georgio Brutini shoes. 5 years ago, I might of been
wearing a K-mart blue light special mismatched, iron on patches to
cover the worn out elbows, suit. A pair of Kangeroo tennis shoes and
a polyester tie from my dads antique collection.
Some might say God has blessed me. Others might say that I am being
vain. So here is the question....

When does a blessing become a vanity item?

Just curious,
