Hi everybody,

I just wanted to say that I am back, and that I thank the Lord that He
brought me through my surgery well. God is able. I want to thank you all for
your prayers. May the Lord bless you for them.

Regarding the subject "women behind the pulpit" I just jump right into that
one, if you don't mind. (I might be a bit off on it, hehe, cause I probably
missed most of the discussion, but I put my 2 cents worth in anyway :)).
hehe, matter of fact, I'm going to speak on that subject during our next
ladie's meeting...I might just use some of this, cool. Half of the job done
already. :)

It has always been my opinion that women hold a special place with the Lord.
Were not the last under the cross women and the first to see the risen
saviour was a woman? :) That makes me feel special. I have been yelled at
and insulted for "teaching" a man (actually, I was explaining the plan of
salvation to him before he knew I was a woman...it was on IRC). He told me
that women have to be quiet, because of that verse that says that women
can't teach and should be silent and he refused to listen to me afterwards,
sad for him, he gave up salvation for his male ego. I told him about Aquilla
and Pricilla and that they BOTH taught Apollos...and I told him about Junia
(I think that was her name) whom Paul called his fellow Apostle. Can you
imagine, a woman Apostle. I told him about Dorcas, who had a church in her
house and about Timothy's Mother and Grandmother who taught him. I think
women are apt to teach, to preach and to do anything and everything in God's
Kingdom a man is able to do. I even read somewhere that the "elect lady"
Paul greets is a female overseer or bishop over several churches, but I am
not sure about that. Paul says that in Christ there are neither male nor
female. However, as far as women pastors go...I have a problem with that.
Why? Well, it does say that a woman is not to usurp authority over a
man.....I guess as a woman pastor you would have to usurp authority over a
man. However, I think if it is God ordained and there is no available male
who could be the pastor of the church a woman has every right to stand
behind the pulpit until a pastor is found. (That would be especially true in
missions, where you have to raise babies in Christ and raise up new
pastors.) It is also my opinion that a woman pastor, who is married, will
have problems, since she is taking spiritual authority over her husband as
pastor...unless they go to different churches (which I doubt that that would
be the case), which is not scripture. Other than that, I think women are
great teachers and preachers, not only to children and other women...but
even men can learn plenty from them. God bless you all. Doris
