Since "we ought to obey God rather than men", I do not think it makes
any difference whether the civil law of the land says you are legally
separated, annulled, or even divorced; what matters is that you are
reconciled to you spouse -- that you do not enter into an intimate
relationship with another person as long as that spouse is living.

My wife has a sister whose husband was in the church, but backslid and
divorced her.  He is now in jail, but she visits him.  She has
remained reconciled to him through many years, even though he has not
done the same to her.  We pray for him regularly, and it looks like he
might come back to the Lord after all this.  God is good to forgive us
all our sins.
