With all due respect Bro. Steven, you missed this one a
mile.  The verb tense used by Bro. Reed indicates that it
is he (Andy) that is confounded (stumped) by teenagers.

You would have to know his mind and the exactness of his statement.
It could be he is confounded himself or it could be interpreted
as Bro. Steven Hall exclaimed. Let's not be so emphatic and dogmatic
about our opinions until we know what the writer himself relates.
