Bro. Richard, I have only been scanning posts lately, so if this is a
duplicate I apologize.

I was just finishing my message for Sunday, "We Have An Altar" and a
thought for you and your friend.

In the tabernacle we have the type of the new birth experience, death,
burial and resurrection.  The altar was a place of death, the first  stop
as entered tabernacle.

We understand that now we do not need an actual physical altar,  the
actions of an individual going to a church altar (I believe) helps them
mentally, emotionally and spiritually in placing them self on the
spiritual altar.

To sum it all up, it is our type of the old testament altar where
sacrifices were made.

Just a thought, hope it can help your friend understand.
