Hi there!
I have to admit I don't know the origination but I do know that the first
time I heard it it was from our pulpit and from a visiting UPC preacher. He
said that one of the guys with him said "You Da Man" and I think that's where
it came from (but I don't know where "You Da Man" came from). Then he
proceeded to explain that a youth somewhere said "You Da Bomb" and that took
presidence over "You Da Man". Like when we hear great preaching or great
music we tell them how talented they are in their field and we say "You Da
Bomb". It basically means "You are the best".
