Hello Sis. Barnett,
The best advice that I can give you is to use your own advice! :-)
Prayer and personal example, oh yeah and prayer...and then
some .....prayer, and maybe even a little prayer. :-) Maybe a fast
also. I've witnessed to quite a few who claim no belief in the bible,
particularly LDS and JW members who use the bible but when you
give scripture out of it that refutes their doctrine, they either read
into it, twist it, or say that the scripture you used was one of those
"planted" scriptures or "improperly translated" scriptures. The only
other thing that I can think of doing is that when you discuss God
over the IRC channel with this person, or any other person that comes
along with a like mind as this one, quote scripture as often as
possible on the subjects you discuss. This may get the person
upset as many who don't believe the bible also tend to dislike
hearing you use it to back your beliefs(truths as we well know) up.
The person may even get mad at you and not come back, but the
important thing is that they got mad at the Word, not you, though
they may think otherwise. Be led of the Spirit and, though your intention
is not to demean or infuriate, you cannot let this person's anger, if
they get upset by your continual quoting of scripture, sway you from
letting God's Word make the arguement for you. You said he showed
great interest and was very polite, therefore you will probably not run
into the problem of anger which I have brought up and thusly, you will
be able to quote scripture left and right, so to speak. The most
important thing is to plant the seed and pray that His will be done.
That's our job...remember...though we get so excited and we desire
to see souls saved with all our heart...we cannot save them...we can
only present the salvation of God to them through His Word and pray
without ceasing for them. You should feel blessed that God has
given your heart a burden for the lost ! :-)
Tell your head I said hello and give dem arrows a Holy Ghost hug
and kiss for me.....still praying for you and your youth group there! :-)
Mercy unto you, and peace, and love,
be multiplied.-Jude 1:2
