Since Daniel's interpretation of Ol' Neb's dream was the panaromic view
of future
Kingdoms rising and falling historically acurate and succesive. I find
that
Babylon fell in 538 BC to the Mede/Persia empire, who fell in 331 BC to
Greece (Alexander the Great), who fell in 63 BC to Rome which fell in
476 AD. How can Rome be the one that "is" if it has also fallen in
succession just as the interpretation of the dream said?

May I further point out that Dan 2:44-45 tells us

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom,
which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to
other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these
kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain
without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the
clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the
king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and
the interpretation thereof sure.

Daniel says *in the days of these kings* Babylon, Mede/Persia, Greece,
Rome. All have fallen and only the Kingdom of Jesus Christ stands.
Isaiah 9:6-8 The zeal of the Lord has been performed!

Therefore, I disagree that Rev. 17 is speaking of Babylon, Mede/Persia,
or Greece.

The clear references to the seven heads and seven hills point to none
other than Rome, and not these that you list.

The papal succession has been in place for more than 1600 years. How
can that be considered short?

The trinity (a theology developed in the third and fourth century) is
not under consideration in John's writing (first century). There is
just no Biblical evidence to validate your theory that John had the
trinity in view (even if you were to hold to the 95 theory, we still
have a first century letter writen to the first century churches with a
first century history and circumstance). Albeit, I believe there were
the false doctrines of the gnostics prevalent. As for the whore, Israel
would be a more logical choice, since Israel was married to Jehovah
(Hosea), but upon His arrival they were in bed with Rome.

When I consider the book of Revelation. I must remember that it is
historical as well as spiritual. To choose one over the other or to
ignore one is favor of the other is to fail Paul's admonition of rightly
dividing the Word of Truth!

I will go to this site. Thank you

I have an excellent (and short) post by Gentry on the Beast and the Mark
of the beast. I'll post it next time.

I like your signature file. Trusting in God without leaning to you own
understanding is a tall order, but not impossible! I can say been there
done that!
