Fw: Faith and Power

We know that the Holy Ghost is given us for salvation, but is that all it
is for? Do we just recieve the Holy Ghost and that is it?

In the scriptures I wrote about yesterday it says "Let us therefore fear,
lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you
should seem to come short of it." Heb. 4:1

This scripture was written to Jewish Christians and not people who needed
the Holy Ghost. So the writer was saying that they needed to be careful
not to fall short, even though they had the Holy Ghost.

We can be overcomers in faith and power. We can have confidence and
assurance that we are His. When we have this confidence, we will be
better witnesses for Him, which is one of the very important reasons for
having the Holy Ghost. Often, our witness is hindered because we lack
faith and confidence, but we can be confident!

How can we make sure we do not fall short of this rest? The rest is the
Holy Ghost and the Holy Ghost is the refreshing.

"For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own
works, as God did from his." One example of this is, if we find church
work a drudgery, it is time to examine what we are doing. When we cease
from our own works, we are walking a walk of faith and not one of doubt.
We do not do church work to be saved. We do church work out of love. If
we are not doing it out of love, it is time to step back and take a look.
It is God's will that we feel fulfilled in what we do. Proverbs says, he
that watereth shall also himself be watered. If we are not being watered,
we need to step back and see if there is something else God would have us
do. Sometimes in stepping back we will recieve criticism from people, but
it is God that we must please and not man.

How do we know what to do and what is right? How can we keep from falling
into unbelief? "Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest
any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is
quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to
the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and
is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Heb 4:11,12 We
can trust the Word of God to divide our thoughts and intents. The Word of
God is the best surgeon's knife there is. We can walk in faith.

How are we kept? "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most
holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of
God..." When we pray in the Holy Ghost, we will be kept and he will give
us assurance. How do we pray in the Holy Ghost? For some, it will be
praying in tongues, but it is entering into the heavenly realm in prayer
as we did when we first recieved His Spirit (Not all continue to speak
with tongues).

We can have confidence. "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which
hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that,
after ye have done the will of God, ye might recieve the promise." We
have confidence and we need to keep it and not cast it away. Remember how
you felt when you recieved the Holy Ghost? God wants you to have and keep
that confidence.

There should be no condemnation in our lives. "There is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the
flesh, but after the Spirit."Rom.8:1 If we feel condemned, one reason
can be the reason below:

"But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the
apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be
mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
" Jude 17,18

It is the devils job to try and keep God's church beaten down. He will
send mockers to accomplish this. If we allow ourselves to be hindered by
mockers, we can feel condemnation and a lack of confidence which in turn
will affect our witness.

"But ye shall recieve power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and
ye shall be witnessess...."Acts 1:8

We all know we should be witnesses, but sometimes the mere thought can
make us feel even more condemned. If we feel this condemnation, we need
to build ourselves up in prayer, praying in the Holy Ghost, and as we
gain assurance, it needs to be used. This assurance, for some will be
used for something as small as buying something you like, or standing up
for the smallest thing. These can be little steps of faith. As these
steps of faith are used, more assurance will come, more confidence will
come, until there is more faith and power.

This is the rest of God. When we feel condemnation, there is no rest.

"And the peace of God, which passes all understanding shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phil.4:7

This peace will divide and multiply. Every child of God has at least a
small amount of peace. If we build it up, we can have more. More peace
equals more confidence. More confidence equals more witnessing. More
witnessing equals more souls for His Kingdom.

And that is our goal.
