Babylon

There was an ancient Babylon and in Rev. 17 we read of a "Mystery
Babylon". When something is a mystery, it means that something about the
mystery is hidden and unrevealed. In a mystery, there is some digging
that must take place.

In the book "The Two Babylon's" by Alexander Hislop, he takes the history
of ancient Babylon and paganism and compares it to the Roman Catholic
Church. There are stunning parallels between the two. I will list some of
these parallels here. (For further study, I would recommend getting this
book.)

1.A very startling parallel is the "trinity in unity". The Babylonians
worshipped a God which was one God in three persons. They used the
triangle to explain it as the Roman Catholic church does today.

2. There was a pagan "mother and child". The symbols used look almost
identical to the madonna and child we see today.

3. They had festivals very similar to the festivals of the Catholic
church today.

4. Alexander Hislop goes into detail concerning extreme unction,
purgatory and prayers for the dead.

5. He talks of idol processions.

6. Relic worship.

7.The clothing and crowning of images.

8. The rosary and worship of the sacred heart.

9.Lamps and wax candles.

10.The sign of the cross.

11.The sovereign pontiff.

12. Priests Monks and Nuns.

These things, although not always presently identical to pagan practice,
are nonetheless very close to the pagan practices of old.

When we look at the pagan practices and compare them to today, and when
we see that there is a "mystery Babylon" which will sit on 7 mountains;
when we see that Rome is the city of 7 hills; when we see that "mystery
Babylon" is actually a city that reigns over kings; when we see the city
is a city decked with gold, red and purple; when we know Rome reigns over
kings; when we know her representatives dress in gold, red and purple;
when we see what the whore has a golden cup in her hand; when we see the
whore is called a mother; when we see the Catholic church called a
mother; when we see the golden cup in the hands of priests; when we hear
that she is drunken with the blood of the saints; when we know Rome has
killed many Christians; we see much scriptural evidence as to the
identity of the great whore.

In the days of Jesus, many missed the truth concerning Biblical prophecy,
but not all the people did. There were some that did see. There was a
time in history when almost all protestants believed that the Catholic
church was "mystery Babylon". The ecumenical movement has changed much of
that. The Catholic church has desired "unity" with her "daughters".
(Those who baptize in the trinity.) This false unity has caused many to
change their minds about the identity of the great whore.

" Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let
such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. But I
am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my
deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust:
let me never be put to confusion."
Psalm 70:4,5 and 71:1
