This was discussed around Christmas time, but you may have missed it. My
opinion on the subject is this:
" One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day
[alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that
regardeth the day , regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that
regardeth not the day , to the Lord he doth not regard [it]."
Romans 14:5-6
When discussing pagan traditions and exactly what we should and should
not separate from, I think doctrinal issues such as the Godhead are the
most important.
We don't have a Christmas tree and that is how far we have separated,(but
we celebrate the rest of it) because the tree really doesn't have
anything to do with the birth of Jesus. We don't tell our children that
Santa Claus is real.
When we are talking about issues that stem from paganism such as the
godhead and worship of images etc, we are discussing very important
issues. When I wrote this post, it was not to condemn anyone who
practices Christmas or Easter as I feel that I am scripturally admonished
not to have division on this sort of topic, but to try and show that
believing that the Roman Catholic Church is the great whore is a logical
and scriptural conclusion to make. One example is that wax candles are in
the list. Are wax candles wrong? I hope not, because I like candles! But
it's the usage of them and how they were incorporated into pagan worship
and the paralleling of pagan worship to the present day "mystery
Babylon". I do respect both sides on the holiday issue, whether one
practices them or not. (If someone doesn't do Easter eggs, fine with me!)
